Before and After Transformations: Tall Ceilings
In this video I show an amazing room transformation when decorating with tall ceilings.
One of the challenges in the room was the real cookie cutter design. There was no architectural detail other than the ceiling and the obvious being – it is a huge and overwhelming space. And if not decorated correctly, can be very, very cold.
In the “after” picture, we highlighted the ceiling with eye-catching color, since it is the only architectural detail in the room. And then we also added ornamental detail with the drapery hardware and the metal artwork that goes all the way up from the fireplace to the ceiling. To cozy it up, we used color and texture, a toasty gold palette, and floor to ceiling draperies that added the overall softness and warmth that the room really lacked. We also added a large area rug in the middle of the floor that echoes the color of the ceiling and upholstered the sofa in a rich and luxurious chenille.
