I’ve loved decorating ever since I was a little girl. Not surprising, as my mother was also a decorator. I remember always being around beautiful things…antique pottery, handsomely carved furniture pieces, delicate, embroidered linens. It was a constant game of show and tell, and I was intrigued and fascinated by everything that paraded through our home. Growing up, I knew exactly which sizes, shapes and colors looked good together, and it was no effort at all. In fact, it was fun! It was so much fun I decided to do it for a living; and I have as much fun with it today, as I did back then.
As an interior decorator and proud owner of a Decorating Den franchise, I enjoy sharing my thoughts and ideas about decorating. My biggest wish, is for everyone to love decorating as much as I do! Decorating should never be overwhelming, or stressful, or frustrating. It should be simple, easy, and fun. With all the hats we have to wear, life is crazy enough, right? So I want to tell you about how to make decorating a little less intimidating, a little more laid back. I also want to offer you some inspiration. Sometimes, that’s all we need. We get so busy with the everyday stuff that we don’t make time for the little spark that fuels the imagination. And what if…? What if I inspired you to come up with something amazing? Then these words would mean so much more than just the silly ramblings of a creative mind.
I regularly present workshops and teach classes in communities in and around Houston, Texas. I’ve also written a series of design monographs called “Come On Over!” which are filled with simple ideas for creating an inviting home that’s always ready for company. Finally, I’ve designed a project planner called “The Decorating Dreambook” which is a unique organizational tool that simplifies the decorating process. If you are thinking about starting a project, this tool is for you, so check it out.
